H.I.I.T (pronounced Hit) training is a method of intense exercise done at a very fast pace with short breaks in between each exercises. For example: 30 seconds of sprinting, 30 seconds of walking, 30 seconds of sprinting, 30 seconds of walking… HIT triggers weight loss and improves fitness quickly. Interval training builds muscle power and helps form strong, shapely muscles that will make it easier to lose weight and improve your stamina. There are many studies that showed the importance of HIT training for building aerobic capacity, endurance, and promoting weight loss. Speed and explosiveness are the core of our athletic training program. This carries over to the H.I.I.T training program. We work at a variety of paces using both running and weights. It is a full body knock down drag out workout. The nice thing about our training is that anyone can start at at any time. Even the exercise beginner can start training in the HIT program. From our H.I.I.T Designer
When I started at The Speed Attic, I weighed over 205 pounds and was frustrated because I was working out sometimes 2 hours a day and not seeing the results. I always felt like the people that I worked out with thought “geez, she must eat A LOT, if she works out like this and doesn't lose any weight.” I felt like the people that saw me eat must be thinking “yeah, right, there is no way she can eat as healthy as this and work out as much as she says she does and not lose any weight”. Then came the day I was sitting at The Speed Attic waiting for our son to finish his training session. I asked Tom Brozovich if adults could do the program, and I started the following week. It was the hardest thing I had ever done. I was working out with an intensity that I had never had before. It was incredible!! A one hour workout kicked my butt more than hours of training ever had. I remember saying to my husband “don't touch me there, I am sore”, and he was like “where are you sore?”...my reply “EVERYWHERE!!”. When I started, I worked out with the athletes. The problem was that for an athlete, The Speed Attic was an additional work out for them. For an adult, this was usually going to be their only workout. So, over time I developed the HIIT program for adults. We do all of what the athletes do and more. I change the program around frequently to keep everyone interested. So, you never really know what we are going to do until you get there. We have nicknamed the HIIT routines…’Today’s Torture’; ‘10 Minutes of Hell’; ‘I cant believe she is making me do this’; ‘My legs are crying’, and others... Since starting at The Speed Attic in 2009, I have lost 50 pounds, got certified to be a personal trainer, and, most recently, purchased The Speed Attic from Tom. I found out that I really love to run, spending Sunday evenings on a 5 mile run. I have also went on a 20 mile road hike and went indoor rock climbing. All things I never would have done without starting at The Speed Attic. So, I encourage everyone, take a chance...start HIIT at The Speed Attic. Find out that not only is it a hard workout that gives excellent results, but maybe you will find that there are lots of things you can try that you never would have.
